Advertising and Commercial Disclosure

Editorial attribution: Professional Insurance UK Editorial Team

Editorial review: 26 June 2026

Professional Insurance UK is an independent educational publication published by Zenith Star Media, an independent publishing network currently developing educational websites.

Zenith Star Media is currently a publishing brand and project, not an incorporated company or registered legal entity.

Current commercial position

As at 26 June 2026:

  • display advertising is not confirmed as currently live;
  • there are no affiliate links;
  • there is no sponsored content;
  • there are no broker referrals;
  • there are no quote forms;
  • there are no lead-generation arrangements;
  • no material insurer or broker commercial relationship is disclosed or currently operating.

Professional Insurance UK may display advertising to help support the cost of producing and maintaining the publication. This page must be checked immediately before publication and reviewed whenever the commercial model changes.

How the site may be funded

Display advertising is the approved initial commercial model. Advertising revenue may in future contribute to publishing, research, editing, technical, accessibility and maintenance costs.

Payment for an advertisement would not purchase a favourable editorial conclusion or a right to approve independent editorial copy. Professional Insurance UK does not sell insurance or arrange quotations.

How advertising should be identified

The CAP Code rules on recognising marketing communications state that marketing communications must be obviously identifiable, that commercial intent must be clear where it is not apparent from context, and that publishers must make clear when advertorials are marketing communications.

Ordinary display advertising may be recognisable through format and placement. Where commercial material resembles editorial content, additional and prominent labelling may be needed. The Committee of Advertising Practice’s guidance on recognising advertisements in publisher content explains why advertorials and advertisement features may need clear labels.

Clear labels may include:

  • Advertisement
  • Advertising
  • Advertisement feature
  • Sponsored content

A vague label should not be used where a reader may not understand that the material is commercial.

Editorial independence

If advertising is introduced, advertisers, advertising networks and commercial partners must not:

  • choose the conclusion of an independent guide;
  • require the removal of a relevant policy limitation;
  • approve or rewrite independent editorial copy;
  • receive favourable coverage in return for payment;
  • prevent a correction supported by the evidence.

Editorial topics are selected according to reader need, evidence, the approved content architecture and the publication’s ability to maintain the page.

PIUK will prohibit advertisements that cover editorial content or use autoplay sound. Until advertising placement has been implemented and tested, we aim to avoid placing advertisements inside quick answers, warning panels, comparison tables, checklists or the steps of a scenario where they could obscure meaning or interfere with editorial controls.

Sponsored content

Professional Insurance UK does not currently publish sponsored content.

If sponsored or advertiser-controlled content is considered in future, it must:

  • receive a separate commercial and editorial review;
  • be clearly labelled from the point a reader encounters it;
  • identify the sponsor where appropriate;
  • avoid appearing to be an independent PIUK recommendation;
  • comply with applicable advertising requirements;
  • remain separate from the conclusions of independent editorial pages.

The CAP Code requires publishers to make clear when advertorials are marketing communications.

Affiliate links, referrals, quotations and leads

Professional Insurance UK currently has no affiliate links, broker referrals, quotation pathways, quote forms or lead-generation arrangements.

Affiliate, referral, quotation or lead-generation activity must not be introduced without a fresh disclosure, regulatory, legal and editorial-independence review. This disclosure must be updated before, or at the same time as, any such arrangement becomes visible to readers.

The Committee of Advertising Practice’s guidance on online affiliate marketing explains that affiliate marketing must be recognisable as advertising. A disclosure should be clear when a reader first encounters the commercial link or claim, rather than appearing only after the commercial content.

Conflicts of interest and material relationships

A person contributing to editorial content should disclose a material employment, ownership, consultancy, financial or other relationship that could reasonably be seen as affecting the work.

A relevant conflict may be managed by reassignment, additional review, a visible disclosure or a decision not to publish. This section does not invent or assume personal relationships that have not been confirmed.

Professional Insurance UK does not rank insurers or recommend providers. Any future commercial arrangement involving an insurer, broker, comparison service, lead generator or advertising intermediary must be assessed for disclosure and editorial-independence implications before it is implemented.

Changes to the commercial model

This disclosure should be reviewed whenever the funding model, advertising technology, sponsorship policy, affiliate status or commercial relationships change.

A material change should be reflected on this page before, or at the same time as, the new arrangement becomes visible to readers. Commercial intent must not be concealed.
